As future officer of the merchant navy, one of the most basic things I have to know is how to tie knots.
Tying knots is not only interesting but also fun to do! So I decided to explain here some of them.
This way I can practice them as well. 😉
The first one I’m going to do is the square Knot
Square Knot:
This is one of the easiest knots to do. 😀
They started being used to connect the rope ends of the ship’s Sails to decrease the vessel’s speed, when you scoop the sail. The knot is symmetrical and allows heavy cargo, provided that the cables have the same gauge and are from the same type, so it doesn’t undo the knot.
